Harvesting soil is a process-based and relational-ethical-focused artwork where the aim is to broaden the learning perspectives of taking care of a compost worm population.
We have been gifted 20 Red Wiggler worms and have found ourselves being their caretakers, observing their daily routines, needs and wants, learning how to feed them right and in what conditions they are the most happiest. We see this active correlation as a way to understand the human impact on the crisis of biodiversity and in the death of healthy earth grounds. Our investigations are lead by personal reflections and conversations, readings and writings but also by being close to the worms who digest greens and transform it into healthy humus-soil. Through learning from each other and the worms, we see a great potential of sharing and gaining new knowledge about symbiosis and entanglements with the natural world.
